smarty pig

pigs are smart.  we’ve all heard it, right?  pigs are as smart as a three year old.  pigs are as smart as a dog.  well, these comparisons, at least to me, mean very little.  I mean, I’ve met three year olds dumber than a box of wet hammers, and my dog belongs in mensa.

that being said, pigs are smart, and they prove it to me all the time.  as a grown-ass human adult, I consider myself to be on the smarter side of a three year old, but on multiple occasions, these pigs have proven to outwit me—sometimes purely for good humor.  when they don't wanna do something, they won't, and when they do, you can't stop 'em.

truck + farm = art + education

coming april two thousand eleven

this is an amazing education project/art installment/documentary film which found huge success last year in our beloved brooklyn.  i'm excited, honored, privileged, and all around jazzed to announce we will be spearheading our very own truck farm here in athens, and driving it everywhere and anywhere we can to meet, educate, and inspire the youth of georgia.

you will here so much more about this in the months to come, and we will be raising funds for this project soon via kickstarter.

step one:  buy a truck

for those who live within farm burger city limits, they too will be spearheading their very own truck farm for the youth of hotlanta.

chef koval's grassfed beef cheek sloppy joe

our first guest chef recipe comes from the much loved chef/partner of decatur's farm burger, chef terry koval.  chef koval has been faced with a line literally out the door since day one of farm burger opening, and he consitently delivers mouthwatering, creative, and delicious grassfed burgers day after day. 

this recipe is from farm burger's first formal sit down dinner (they offer these special events from time to time), and in chef koval's own words, it is "a fun twist on a classic american dish, while using whole animal products." 

the beef cheeks "cook up like a roast your grandmother would make."  who wouldn't love an improvement on this lunch lady throwback?

straight from the woods, an all pig emergency weather broadcast. 

storm attacks! georgia prepares for state of emergency!

let me set the scene last night at the grocery store:  a sixty year old lady pushing a grocery cart with three weeks worth of water in it.  i'm hearing at the big box store's shelves are literally cleared of all the staples.  schools are certainly closed tomorrow, if not Tuesday as well.  the busiest flight traffic corridor in the world—atlanta int’l—will come to a hush as four inches of almost instantly melting snow will dust the state of georgia overnight.  the mayans were right.  the world is ending.  only difference is, it’s tonight in north georgia, and it came a year early.
